Chevy’s Fresh Mex closed earlier this year with very little “noise”  at 5885 Owens Drive. The building has sat vacant since and it never was marketed for sale or lease. Here is why: Mercedes-Benz of Pleasanton has had their meat-hooks ready.

For years, the Mercedes dealer has planned to expand and has explored many different options to remodel their used and new car inventory. If you are familiar with the site, the Chevy’s restaurant sit between the new and the used car dealership. With the land acquisition of 5885 Owens, they will now have one large contiguous piece of land to build the dealership dreams are made of. The city of Pleasanton approved preliminary building plans and conditional use permit for a 112,000 square foot showroom on June 13th, 2012. The 72,000 square foot building will include 60,000 square feet on the ground level consisting of a showroom and service area. There will also be a second and third floor for administration and general office area.

Check out the pictures provided in the Staff Report for the project. The brown boxes in the left picture depict the existing building foot print for the new Mercedes dealership and the Chevy’s restaurant.
